NEW PROGRAMS 2021

The Wisdom Nest is excited to announce three new program offerings starting in January, 2021. These programs are designed to provide academic, social, and athletic enrichment for students of the Wood River Valley. While each program is distinct, all will provide opportunities for local children to learn, collaborate, and socialize with their peers more frequently.

 

The options are outlined below. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to enroll in one or more programs. If you would like to create your own private group with your child’s  friends or classmates, this is also available upon request. Please reach out to us via email, hello@thewisdomnest.com

Outdoor Education and Academic Enrichment

The Wisdom Nest will offer half-day experiential small group learning for students in 3rd – 7th grades. The groups will be organized by grade and there will be a maximum of 6 students in each group.

 

All sessions will take place outside and will revolve around a project based learning model. The sessions will focus on community building, investigating the local natural environment, project based collaboration (e.g. constructing snow forts, identifying animal tracks, etc..) writing (journaling), and math and science in nature.This program is intended to augment students’ current curriculum.

 

Sessions will be held twice per week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday) to coincide with the days that participants will not be attending school in person. Each session will last three and a half hours (9-12 :30) and students should plan on bringing a snack, lunch, and dressing warmly.

 

The program will consist of (2) five-week sessions and will run from January 4th until March 11th. Students may sign up for session 1, 2, or both. 

 

The groups will be led by Clayton Simmers who is an elementary school educator, lacrosse and hockey coach, fly-fishing guide, and a ski instructor.

 

Cost:

  • Five Week session (10 group meetings) - $550

ACADEMIC TUTORING GROUPS

Starting in January The Wisdom nest will offer half-day tutoring groups. The groups will be organized by grade level and will focus on Math, Writing, and Reading Comprehension. These learning pods will be a place for students to work on their current school work and also receive extra help as well as curriculum management. During the sessions will also focus on community building, developing executive function skills, and experiential/project based learning.

 

The programs will be offered for 3rd through 7th graders. There will be a maximum of 5 students per group and classes will be held in a to be determined location.

 

Sessions will be held two times per week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday) to coincide with the days that participants will not be attending school in person. Each session will last three and a half hours(9-12:30) and students should plan on bringing a snack, lunch, and warm clothes for spending time outside.

 

The program will consist of (2) five-week sessions and will run from January 4th until March 11th. Students may sign up for session 1, 2 or both. 

 

These groups will be led by a variety of our excellent team members at The Wisdom Nest.

  • Five Week session (10 group meetings) - $600

FRIDAY SKI PROGRAM

The Wisdom Nest will offer half-day Ski Chaperone groups this Winter on Baldy each Friday.  The groups will be for intermediate – advanced level skiers who are not quite ready to ski independently for the day.  The students will be grouped by age/ability and the program is designed for students in 3rd – 7th grades.  Groups will consist of a maximum of 6 students.

 

The program will be split into 4-week sessions that will start on Friday, January 8th and will run until the mountain closes.Students may sign up for one or multiple sessions.Groups will meet from 9:00 – 12:30 and participants should come prepared to spend the entire time outside.

Cost:

  • Four Week session (4 group outings) - $200 (Lift tickets are not include in the cost)
